Getting started with PROLASTIN-C LIQUID
Prescription is sent
Your doctor sends your prescription to the PROLASTIN DIRECT program, which helps you with navigating insurance coverage, choosing where to receive infusions, and more. Sometimes, your provider may select a specific infusion provider. In that case, the selected infusion provider will work with you on starting your treatment.
Representative calls
PROLASTIN DIRECT will call you within 2 business days after receiving your prescription. A representative will verify your insurance, answer any questions you may have, and help complete your prescription processing. It is very important to answer this phone call to get your treatment started. The caller ID may show as “unknown” or “NA” or even “Accredo,” the name of the specialty pharmacy.
Infusion location set
If you would like to receive infusions at home, a nurse from PROLASTIN DIRECT will call to review and confirm your insurance coverage and benefits. They’ll also explain how the program, treatment, and infusions work, and how your medication will be sent. If you choose infusions at an infusion center, the center will call to explain their process.
The PROLASTIN DIRECT Assist Program may help with your copay.
PROLASTIN-C LIQUID is covered by 90%+ of health plans nationwide and those that have commercial insurance may qualify for a $0 copay through the PROLASTIN DIRECT Assist Program. The program may also help with the cost of the deductible, and can provide up to $10,000 per year every year in financial assistance for eligible patients.

Limitations of Use
- The effect of augmentation therapy with any alpha1-PI, including PROLASTIN-C LIQUID, on pulmonary exacerbations and on the progression of emphysema in alpha1-PI deficiency has not been conclusively demonstrated in randomized, controlled clinical trials
- Clinical data demonstrating the long-term effects of chronic augmentation or maintenance therapy with PROLASTIN-C LIQUID are not available
- PROLASTIN-C LIQUID is not indicated as therapy for lung disease in patients in whom severe alpha1-PI deficiency has not been established
PROLASTIN-C LIQUID is contraindicated in immunoglobulin A (IgA)-deficient patients with antibodies against IgA or patients with a history of anaphylaxis or other severe systemic reaction to alpha1-PI products.
Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, may occur. Monitor vital signs and observe the patient carefully throughout the infusion. If hypersensitivity symptoms occur, promptly stop PROLASTIN-C LIQUID infusion and begin appropriate therapy.
Because PROLASTIN-C LIQUID is made from human plasma, it may carry a risk of transmitting infectious agents, eg, viruses, the variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD) agent, and, theoretically, the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) agent. This also applies to unknown or emerging viruses and other pathogens.
The most common adverse reactions during PROLASTIN-C LIQUID clinical trials in >5% of subjects were diarrhea and fatigue, each of which occurred in 2 subjects (6%).
