When given as prescribed, PROLASTIN-C raises the level of AAT in your blood and lungs.
PROLASTIN-C is augmentation therapy because it augments or replaces missing AAT. Or sometimes it's called "replacement" therapy.
Augmentation is the only pharmaceutical therapy specifically approved by the FDA for treatment of Alpha-1 deficiency.
The effect of augmentation therapy on pulmonary exacerbations and on the rate of progression of emphysema has not been demonstrated in adequately powered, randomized, controlled trials for any Alpha-1 product.
Please consult your doctor to discuss the clinical data available on PROLASTIN and to discuss if PROLASTIN-C is right for you.
